Crash Near Border Killed One

The Washington State Patrol has identified a Lynden woman as the person killed in a two-car collision near the Canadian border on Saturday. She was a passenger and her son was was driving on the highway. A motorist ran a stop sign on Benson Road and hit their vehicle. The wreck blocked the highway for nearly four hours.

Kittitas County Has More Than 50 Accidents Due to Snow

Over this past weekend, Kittias Valley was surprised by a light snow which has been blamed for dozens of accidents. The snow slowed down motorists and caused spinouts and crashes on Interstate 82 southeast of Ellensburg. Few significant injuries were reported. Most areas in the Kittitas Valley are expected to get three to five inches of snow with as much as ten inches.

Fatal Crash on Highway 512 Near Puyallup

A Puyallup man who police say was racing in his car along westbound Highway 512 near Puyallup was killed when his car collided with a semi-truck this morning. The man, 30, was killed after he lost control of his car and crossed the median, striking an eastbound semi-truck head on. The truck driver, 45, was treated for minor injuries and released. Another semi-truck and four other vehicles were damaged by debris from the collision. Both lanes of eastbound Highway 512 near Puyallup were blocked for several hours, but all lanes have reopened.

Women Makes $4 Million Deal

November 12th, 2007: Glenn Phillips

A Bellevue woman who was severely injured three years ago in a collision involving a State Patrol trooper has been awarded a $4 million settlement.

The victim was home for the 2004 winter holidays when her vehicle was T-boned by former Trooper Josh Stuart’s, according to Patrol spokesman Capt. Jeff De Vere.

Terlinchamp suffered traumatic brain injuries and required months to recover, according to a lawsuit she filed last year in King County Superior Court. The Patrol accepted responsibility for the accident once the facts of the case were known.

Stuart resigned in 2006 during the investigation, which revealed that the accident had been avoidable.

Serveral Injured in Tour Bus Crash

Police say a tour bus crashed east of the Rogers Pass Summit in the mountains of southeastern British Columbia, killing two people and injuring several others. Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the bus was carrying 11 passengers and the driver when it left the Trans-Canada Highway and rolled down an embankment about 40 miles west of Golden, British Columbia. One of the injured was reported in critical condition while other passengers suffered minor injuries.

Trasylol Pulled Off the Market

Germany’s Bayer has suspended temporarily the global marketing of its anti-bleeding drug Trasylol, which has been linked to a higher risk of death. Trasylol is aimed at preventing blood loss in patients with an increased risk for blood loss during heart bypass surgery. The drug, approved in 1993 and known generically as aprotinin, has been under a cloud for more than a year amid data suggesting it might boost the risk of death, serious kidney damage and stroke, so the step was not unexpected.

Women Trapped In Her Car After Accident In Pierce County

November 2nd, 2007: Glenn Phillips

A woman was trapped in her car and later rushed to Harborview Medical Center Thursday after police say a Pierce County driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit her vehicle head-on.

A 32-year-old man was driving his Ford Ranger southbound on state Route 7 he crossed the centerline about 7:50 a.m. He received only minor injuries. The 18-year-old Eatonville woman driving the Honda, who was trapped until aid units arrived, was transported from a local hospital to Harborview with critical injuries.
