Icy Roads outside of Spokane Cause Deadly Crashes

December 19th, 2007: Glenn Phillips

Two people died today in a crash on U.S. Highway 2 west of Spokane. A westbound 1984 Porsche 944 spun out and collided head-on with a 1994 Subaru Legacy just east of Airway Heights.

The driver of the Porsche died after being taken to Deaconess Medical Center. A passenger in her vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver other driver was taken to Deaconess.

Lynden Woman Victim in Crash

December 5th, 2007: Glenn Phillips

The Washington State Patrol has identified a Lynden woman as the person killed in a two-car collision near the Canadian border on last Saturday.

According to the State Patrol, she was a passenger as her son was driving on Highway 546, the east-west highway between Blaine and Lynden. A motorist ran a stop sign on Benson Road and hit their vehicle. State Patrol investigators said the woman was not wearing a seat belt. The wreck blocked the highway for nearly four hours.

Doctors Stick Together When it Comes to Medical Mistakes

Nearly half of all U.S. doctors fail to report incompetent or unethical colleagues, even though they agree that such mistakes should be reported, researchers said today. “There is a measurable disconnect between what physicians say they think is the right thing to do and what they actually do.” said a leader of the survey.

A report stated that up to 98,000 people die every year because of medical errors in hospitals alone. As well, 85% of most doctors said they should tell patients or relatives about significant errors. But this is not what happens.
