Wrongful Death Cases Settled at $2.8 Million

July 28th, 2008: Glenn Phillips

On Monday, July 28, 2008, a Kendall County Judge approved the largest wrongful death settlement in Kendall County history, for $2.8 million. The decision resulted from the death of 22-year-old Shannon M. Orr, who was killed when a grocery store truck rear-ended her car near Route 126 and Ridge Road in Na Saw Township in Kendall County, Illinois. The accident and death took place on April 23, 2004.

According to reports, Orr’s car was stopped behind a concrete truck on Route 126 when the semi-trailer food truck approached from behind Orr’s car, and failed to stop, pushing her car into the concrete truck and causing it to burst into flames and collapse.
