Puget Sound – Two crashes involving commercial vehicles are leaving the Washington State Patrol scratching their heads.
The one on Thursday February, 4th just before 10 pm happened on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at the 88th street overpass involving two cars and two tractor-trailer trucks. Apparently, one truck was slowing down in reaction to slower traffic in front of it when another truck plowed into the rear of it sending the one in front of it crashing into two cars. The only driver reported hurt was one of the truck drivers who was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition.
Another accident happened on Monday in the afternoon. A dump truck going eastbound on Highway 522 just east of Highway 9 slammed into the back of a passenger car, injuring three people including two children. The three were rushed to Harborview Medical Center where one was listed in critical condition. At the time when the truck hit the car, trooper Keith Leary said that the car may have come to a complete stop in the slow lane.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is involved, which means they are always seeking witnesses.
If you happened to see or know someone who witnessed either of these collisions please contact either detective Sgt. Jerry Cooper at 360-805-1192 or detective Curt Ladines at 360-805-1160.
