Car Hits Sound Transit Train; No Injuries Reported

Train Accident, train accident attorney

March 10th, 2010: Law Blogger

Car Accidents with Commercial VehiclesSeattle Fire crews were called on the emergency band for a heavy-rescue response just before 3:30 p.m. today. The call described collision between a car and a Sound Transit Train at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Elmgrove Street.

The driver and passenger in the car were reported as stable, fire crews said. The occupants of the car were not trapped in the car as first reported.

Medical crews checked train passengers and found no injuries.

“There are no injuries; police and fire are on scene right now were holding out trains at the nearest station that they were at when the accident happened,” Sound Transit spokesman Bruce Gray stated during the investigation and clean up around 4 p.m.

The train went out of service and was on its way by 4:20 p.m.  The train only suffered minor damage and is expected to be back to normal service later Wednesday evening.

Southbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South were blocked for investigation and have just opened up within the last half hour.

People in the area are not yet used to ground transit. This is the second collision since the introduction of light rail in June of 2009. Luckily there have been no fatalities.

If you or a loved one get into a collision with a city vehicle it is important that you get legal council right away. Call Phillips Webster for a consultation.
