Around 8 pm Saturday night 47 year old a Freeland man was riding his motorcycle on E Goss Lake Road when he was suddenly sent flying after being hit by a drunk driver. The driver of the car was a 28 year old man also of Freeland.
Medics rushed the injured motorcyclist to Whidbey Island Hospital. Hospital officials have not yet released his current condition. The driver of the car was not injured.
Neither man has been identified.
The driver of the car has been arrested for Investigation of Vehicular Assault and may be charged with DUI pending further investigation, according to Washington State Patrol officers assigned to the case.
Motorcycles are very hard to see in the first place, but they have no chance against a drunk driver. These are serious charges against the young driver of the car and he’s just lucky he didn’t kill the motorcyclist.
