A car was traveling east on Northeast 45th Street earlier today when a 45 year old woman who was standing on the southeast corner of the intersection of Northeast 45th Street and 36th Avenue Northeast, stepped out into the marked crosswalk.

The car struck her sending her rolling and sprawled on the road, bleeding, according to police and the Seattle Fire Department.

Officers quickly arrived and administered CPR on the pedestrian, who was later rushed to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire Department medics, police said.

The critically injured woman is reported to have life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Police have blocked the street and are continuing investigating the accident.

Our thoughts go out to the woman as she struggles to stay alive in the hospital.
