The issue of Roof Crush is a major concern for automobile safety advocates. With the introduction of shardless glass, safer seatbelts, and air bags, safety during rollover accidents seems to be the next issue that the car manufacturers need to address. Luckily for a mother and her teenage daughter this morning, Jeep addressed the issue of rollover accidents decades ago.
The accident happened around 6:30 am at the intersection of 3rd and Thor. The two were driving in the jeep heading south on Thor, going up the Thor-Freya hill at the same time a semi was driving eastbound, getting off the freeway.
The exact details have not been revealed, but the Jeep hit the front end of the semi. The trucking accident sent the Jeep with the mother and daughter inside of it rolling several times.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and took the mother and daughter to the hospital with personal injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
Police say both drivers claim they had a green light at the intersection. Now, they’re waiting for a witness to describe the crash. Police say one of the drivers will likely be cited.
There was no top on the vehicle, but the Jeep was equipped with a roll-bar. A roll-bar is designed to protect its occupants from being injured in an rollover accident. Emergency crews say the roll-bar on a Jeep likely saved their lives.
